Why must life be so difficult? :)
So, I've gotten a job offer for nearly 50% more than what I'm making now. I would definately like to work for this company, and the project that they would be hiring me for sounds pretty interesting.
Unfortunately, they are based in Annapolis (~45 miles from our new house, along some rather congested highways). The group I would be working for was looking into office space in Columbia (~20 miles from the new house, avoiding the worst of those congested highways). That move appears to have been put on the back burner, so if I were to take the offer, I'd be commuting to Annapolis every day, doubling the distance I travel and probably tripling the time it takes thanks to traffic (though if I get started early, that may improve a little).
I will probably still take the offer, but it certainly is not as nice as it was when I thought I would be commuting to Columbia. I suppose things could be much worse. :)
Update: (2003-11-03 11:33)
Okay, so I took the job. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up, even if it means a long commute (for this area of the country at least).
Gratz! Go for it. Is there a public train service between the two locations? May work out faster for you rather than battling the traffic.
ah, being familiar with the crazy DC/MD/VA traffic I can sympathise. If you can deal with the metro and it's avaialble that might be a good solution. you can always read or, ick, catch up on a little work.
congrats.
Call that difficult? ;-p
I would love to have a job 45 miles from my place, even if that would mean I had to face traffic jams every day. Would preferably want to earn slightly more than +50% of what I get now as that would be around $420
Suppose you can guess I'm unemployed at the moment, so yes, it defenitely could be a lot worse *grin*
Congratulations by the way :-)

Hey David,
congratulations on you new job - I know how hard it is to travel often over years and actually a long distance plus an EVEN BETTER OFFER was the reason to quit a job 4 yrs ago...
But go ahead and learn, earn and have fun.
