MTPingedURLs

I wrote this to help me test the new version of MTMoreLikeThisFromOthers. I figured the general community could get some use out of it, so I thought I'd release it on its own.

An interesting little bug/feature: this plugin will not work during the first build of an entry. The pinged URL list is not entered into the database until after the building is complete (i.e. when the actual pings are sent). If you want to use this plugin, you will need to build each entry a second time after you first build it.

  • <$MTEntryTitle$> pinged:
    • pings sent

Download pinged.tar.gz or pinged.zip, unpack it, and place pinged.pl in your plugins directory.

MTPingedURLs now requires the XML::RSS perl module. The quickie way to install it is to download RSS.pm and place it in your extlib/XML directory.

The number of pings sent Container Tag for the Pinged URLs The Pinged URL Title of the Entry that was pinged Link to the Entry that was pinged Description of the Entry that was pinged, usually the Excerpt Added support for pinging older versions of MT Added MTPingedURLCount Added MTPingedURLEntryTitle, MTPingedURLEntryLink, and MTPingedURLEntryDescription First version

So how is this different from the MTPingsSent container added in MT2.5? It looks like it gives me the same results. Is there any way this could be expanded to be able to show the title/excerpt or more from the entry that was pinged? Since that info doesn't appear to be in the MySQL database, I kinda doubted it, but couldn't hurt to ask, right?! :)

A lot more descriptive than the built-in Tracker.

Would it be possible to add a
MTPingedBlogName for the name of the blog pinged and a MTPingedDate for the date of the ping. That would pretty much mirror all the tags available by MTPings.

Thanks, I had to use PHP for some of this stuff before.

i think this tag [described above] MTPluginURLEntryDescription should be MTPingedURLEntryDescription.

Took me three rebuileds to realise it. Now i'm gonna fix it and try it rebuilding

is there any way to count the number of TB pings received?

lol... stupid me. just ignore me. cant believe i asked such a stupid question. i've been counting TBpings since way back and all of a sudden my mind goes blank.

Rather like when i forget how to tie laces sometimes. I'll blame it on not having slept in 24hrs.

Any way to pull the name of the Blog that you pinged, or is that not built into the functionality?

I really appreciate your comment on my entry.
In fact, you are the first guest visited my blog ^^
I installed XML::Parser in mt/extlib/XML directory.
But It doesn't seem to fix the problem..
Should it be installed by my host?(then I should request it to my host..)

thanks for the plugin. excelente. it would be more fun if the title of the blog be identified.

is there a tag for the name of the blog pinged?
