As I was up late watching
Have you ever seen a movie robot use money at all? In the Terminator films, Arnie never paid for anything, no matter which side he was fighting for. And the robot I saw last night, busted open some vending machine to get a map. This map only cost 25 cents, which in our time (due to inflation and such), would equate to about 10 cents or so. Is it really that important to save 10 cents? To prove how "tough" a robot you are?
Have the programmers of all these fictional robots forgotten to include the whole "money can be used in exchange for goods and services" concept? Did they forget to include pockets for spare change in their design? "Complex combat manuevers are one thing, but pushing a quarter in to a small slot is totally different."
What do you think? :)
Update: Just a personal opinion here, but
In Blade Runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who has been established to be a replicant (cyborg), is seen paying for drinks/food in a bar.
Well, it was not established explicitly in the movie that he was a robot, so I am not 100% sure it violates the rule just yet. Do any of the replicants that are confirmed in-the-movie pay for anything?
I imagine if it's going to happen in any movie, Blade Runner would be the movie for it to take place.
